Getting Started with Geomatica on Cloudeo

PCI Geomatics -

PCI Geomatics had partnered with cloudeo to make Geomatica available on the cloudeo platform. With the Geomatica Cloud offering on cloudeo you can access the software 24/7, on-demand, from wherever you are.

This guide outlines how to get started with Geomatica Cloud on cloudeo. The following steps will be outlined in detail:

Register for Cloudeo

Add Geomatica Cloud to Cart

Add Cloudeo Workbench to Cart

Review Cart and Complete Purchase

Connect to Workbench

Upload Data

Register for Cloudeo

The first step is to access the cloudeo website and register for a new account. Note that you do not need to provide credit card information to create a cloudeo account.

  1. You can access the cloudeo store from the Geomatica Cloud homepage or directly from the Cloudeo Store.
  2. Click Register now

  1. Enter all the required information to create a new account.

  1. Once you create the account you will receive an email from cloudeo to confirm your registration. Click on the link in the email to complete the registration. Also take note of the username that you have been assigned. You will use this username to log into the cloudeo store.

Add Geomatica Cloud to Cart

Once you have signed into the cloudeo store you can order your Geomatica Cloud product.

  1. From the Services list on the cloudeo store select Software as a Service (SaaS). From the SaaS page select the Geomatica Cloud option.

The Geomatica Cloud page is then loaded.

  1. Select your required package, start date, subscription period and enter any remarks, as required. Also make sure that you check off This software requires a cloudeo Workbench. You will add the Workbench in the next section.

Each of the Geomatica Cloud packages are outlined at the bottom of the webpage.

  1. Once you have specified all the available options, click ADD TO CART.

Add Cloudeo Workbench to Cart

The next step will be to purchase your cloudeo Workbench. As noted on the Geomatica Cloud storefront, this software requires a cloudeo Workbench. This Workbench is the virtual machine which will host the Geomatica software.

  1. On the cloudeo store navigate to Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
  2. Select Workbench - https://cloudeo.store/5-0101-105

  1. From the Workbench storefront, select your Workbench configuration, start date, subscription period and enter any remarks, as required.

Note: We highly recommend that you select either the Standard, Standard Plus or Professional configuration option to allow for efficient processing. Detailed information about the configuration options is available on the webpage and below.

Note: You will want the subscription period of the Workbench to match the subscription period of your Geomatica Cloud purchase. Please select either the 1 month or 12 month option.

  1. Once you have specified all the available options, click ADD TO CART

Review Cart and Complete Purchase

The final step of the purchase process is to view the cart and complete payment.

  1. Open the cart to view both of your items: Geomatica Cloud and Workbench.

  1. Click NEXT and complete the purchase.

Connect to Workbench

After the order has been completed, within a couple business days the cloudeo team will send you an email with the information for you to access the Workbench virtual machine. This email includes:

  • VM Public IP Address
  • Username and password
  1. Once you receive this email, you can access the VM through a Remote Desktop Connection (RDP). In the RDP window enter the Public IP for the computer.

  1. When prompted enter the username and password, as provided in the email from cloudeo.
  2. The virtual machine will then open in Remote Desktop. Geomatica is installed and can be access from the desktop icon.

Connection to the network storage drive that was included with your Workbench purchase. All purchased data (DaaS) will be added to this drive.

You can now run Geomatica from this workstation for the duration of your subscription period. 

Upload Data

If your Workbench is connected to the internet, there are many cloud-based options to transfer your data such as the following:

Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer (free up to 2 GB)
