Manually Uninstalling Geomatica

PCI Geomatics -

The purpose of this tutorial is to provide you with a friendly and easy to follow step-by-step guide for manually uninstalling PCI Geomatica 2015. On rare occasions, uninstalling the software through Programs and Features will not delete all of the required items or freeze along the way thus not properly uninstalling the software. If this is the case you will need to manually uninstall the software to remove any trace of it on your machine before it can be reinstalled.

Step 1: Delete the Geomatica 2015 folder

If you used the default folder settings when installing the software, the Geomatica 2015 files will be in the following location: C:\PCI Geomatics\Geomatica 2015. You can delete this entire folder. If applicable, backup your standalone license file (Geomatica 2015>exe>License.PCI) and any other customized files (for example, Geomatica 2015>etc>userproj.txt. datum.txt, ellips.txt) before continuing to uninstall the software.

Step 2: Remove Registry Keys

Open the registry editor

  1. Open the Start Menu and type regedit

  1. In the Registry Editor delete the following folders:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PCIGroup\PCI20150

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PCIGeomatics\Geomatica2015

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ {1DF25237-D109-32EB-A8FE-F7E369F19622}

Note: This is different for each version of Geomatica.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python\ PythonCore\2.7\InstallPath

Step 3: Remove the installation shield information

In the following folder there may be a folder for each installed program or installation attempt: C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information

Delete the last few recent attempts for Geomatica 2015 ({1DF25237-D109-32EB-A8FE-F7E369F19622})

Step 4: Delete files in the Temp folder

To fully remove all PCI files remove all the files from your temp folder. This folder is located in one of the following locations:

C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Temp

C:\Users\your username.PCI\AppData\Local\Temp

In order to access these folders you need to turn on hidden files, system files and display of filename extensions. To do this open the Folder Options GUI from Windows Explorer (Tools menu > Folder Options). Choose the View tab, then check "Show hidden files, folders and drives", uncheck "Hide extensions…", click "Apply" (not "OK") click on the "Apply to Folders" button at the top, then "OK".

Step 5: Restart your computer

Geomatica is now completely removed from your machine and can be reinstalled if necessary.
