Geomatica 2014

PCI Geomatics -

Yes. Existing customers who already have hardware keys will continue to be licensed using that method, unless they specifically ask to change to a dongle-less license. Please see the License Policy below for instructions on how to switch to a dongle-less licensing system. For all new customers the default will be for PCI to license them without the use of a hardware key. If they want to use one, there will be a nominal fee as we will need to ship a dongle to them. (Fee is included on the Price List).

Yes. If a customer currently has the V10.1+ series of Geomatica running using a hardware-key, they can install Geomatica on the same system and be licensed using the same hardware key, as mentioned in Question 1. If the customer wishes to use a Geomatica without a hardware-key on the same machine they may request that as well.

Geomatica does not use a CPU number for licensing. The information needed to license the system (fingerprint) can be found using the Geomatica License Utility.

If there are hardware changes or a change in machines, the PCI software may have to be re-licensed. Users will have to contact license@pcigeomatics.com to request a new license. The License Policy listed below will be in effect for those changes, which must be approved by the salesperson in charge of that account.

The default setting for an Educational server system will be to include a hardware key.

Only the server machine needs to have a hardware key. As long as the laptop is on the same network it can be assigned a license token. No license is required on the laptop itself.

Educational bundles also include the same number of “Student Licenses”. Student licenses are valid for duration of a related course.. For more information, see the associated Student Licensing FAQ document.

Licensing Policy

  1. Existing customers can be switched to a dongle-less license as long as they have not already been issued a Geomatica license that is tied to a hardware key. In order for existing customers to change to a dongle-less licensing system, after having already been licensed for Geomatica, they will need to ship their current hardware key back to PCI. Permanent licenses will not be issued until it is received by PCI Geomatics.
  2. Dongle-less licensing is not available in the top-30 piracy countries in the world, as defined by the 2010 Piracy study conducted by BSA Global Software. The list of countries that must use hardware keys is included below.
  3. Since the software is now licensed using computer hardware instead of hardware keys, users will be allowed to apply for a re-license if they have changes in their computer that cause the licensing to stop working. Users may have up-to four (4) of these changes over the life of the software.
